remote learning day

Dear North Mason Families,

As you are aware, we experienced a water main break today that resulted in the closure of the upper campus and early dismissal of our high school and middle school students. Repairs are currently underway. To ensure student safety, NMHS, James A. Taylor, and Hawkins MS will be closed tomorrow, Thursday, April 25, 2024, and the District will implement remote learning protocol, as follows:

·        Buses will operate on normal AM hours so students can come to school to collect devices and grab-and-go food options. After picking up computers and food, students will re-board buses and be transported home.

 ·        Online learning will be synchronous, conducted live on Teams, by the student’s teacher. Important to note:

o   Classes will be held between 10:00 am and 1:30 pm and will follow the half-day schedule.

o   Attendance will be taken during each class. Please ensure your student is present.

·        Thursday conferences are cancelled. If you feel the need to reschedule your conference time please contact your student’s school counselor at Hawkins Middle School, or your student’s teacher at NMHS or James A. Taylor.

Updates on any schedule changes for Friday will be communicated through ParentSquare and posted on the District website and social media channels. Elementary schools and Mary E. Theler Early Learning Center will be open. Schedule for morning buses at the elementary level may potentially be impacted, due to the high school and middle school students picking up devices and grab-and-go meals.

We appreciate that implementing remote learning protocols may pose challenges for families but please know that our top priority is the safety and well-being of our students. Thank you for your understanding as we navigate this repair and the subsequent impact.
