Title I

TITLE I PROGRAMS ARE SPECIALLY DESIGNED TO ASSIST STUDENTS IN DEVELOPING SKILLS TO MEET CHALLENGING STATE STANDARDS IN READING AND MATH.

 

WE KNOW

  • Students advance at different rates.

  • Some require extra help.

  • Some students find growing up and learning at the same time very difficult.

IF you notice that your child:

  • does not like to talk about what he/she is learning at school,

  • is reluctant to go to school,

  • says, “I’ll never learn,”

  • seems to be developing negative feelings toward school,

AND:

  • your child is not performing at grade level,

  • the classroom teacher indicates that your child is having great difficulty with classroom work,

 

THEN your child may be able to get help from the Title I Program.  Contact our school counselor.

 

At Belfair Elementary, the Title I program focuses on reading and/or math.

OUR PROGRAMS:

  • provide small group support,

  • coordinate with classroom teachers,

  • supplement classroom instruction,

  • monitor student progress,

OUR GOALS ARE:

  • to provide supplemental instruction in basic skills,

  • to reinforce and generate success in every student every day,

  • to motivate students,

  • to create a stronger self-image in students,

  • to help students meet the high standards of both the District and the State.

EVERYONE HAS A ROLE

Because parents are a child’s first teacher, a partnership between parents and the Title I Program is essential for student success. Each student who receives Title I services has a Parent Compact, which outlines the responsibilities of the school, teachers, parents, and students. Parents can help make this an experience that will have a positive effect on your child’s future by being involved. Contact your child’s teacher or the school office to find out how you can become involved in your school’s program. 

BE INVOLVED:

  • Visit the school.

  • Participate in school activities.

  • Ask questions.

  • Help your student at home.

  • Encourage reading and writing.

  • Encourage the use of math skills.
